As Spring approaches in Erie, PA, so does the urge to spring-clean!
While many love the opportunity to start fresh with the new season, we also know that cleaning products can be both expensive and chock full of chemicals. We are excited to share a few of our favorite tips and tricks for all natural home cleaning solutions!
Multi-Purpose Household Cleaner: All you need is equal parts vinegar to water in a spray bottle. If you're worried about the smell, you're in luck! Once dry, the smell of vinegar goes away but still leaves your surfaces streakless and clean.
You can use this cleaner in multiple rooms in your home and on multiple surfaces, most notably the bathroom. This cleaner will help get rid of any soap scum, water stains, and any unsightly rings in your toilet bowls. You can also use this cleaner on surfaces like your sink and countertops as well as other rooms including, kitchen and laundry rooms! This cleaner is good for your kitchen appliances but it also works as a natural fabric softener for your laundry. If you have sensitive skin, adding ½ cup of vinegar added to your rinse cycle instead of fabric softener has many benefits (including no harsh chemicals on your skin) and will clean your washing machine in the process.
Lemons: Lemons are very useful for anyone with brass and copper surfaces. Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle baking soda onto the lemon, and use that like a sponge for any tough stains or if you just want shinier surfaces. Lemons are also good to use in your kitchen's garbage disposal. Throw your leftover lemon peels in the garbage disposal and your kitchen will feel fresh and ready for spring!
Baking Soda: If you find that your drains may be clogged or backed up, baking soda is a great go-to! Start with 1 cup of baking soda then pour 1 cup of heated vinegar afterwards to your drains to unclog slow drains.
Glass Cleaner: A great natural glass cleaner can be made with only 2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons white vinegar, 2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol, and 5 drops of peppermint oil all poured into a 24 ounce spray bottle. Clean with a microfiber cloth for a nice springtime shine.
Floor Cleaner: The last cleaner to finish up your home is a floor cleaner! Mix ½ cup of white vinegar, 1 gallon of warm water, and 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil in a bucket and use on any tile flooring to leave your floor shiny clean!
We hope this makes spring cleaning a little easier and gives you an opportunity to use more organic and natural cleaning products in your #HappyHouse this Spring. As always, feel free to reach out anytime to discuss your #homegoals this year!
