Health and Safety Tips:
Fourth of July weekend is a time to join together with family and friends to celebrate our independence. It is a time for hot dogs, parades, fireworks, sunshine, picnics, smores, swimming, and so much more. Although summertime is a time for fun, you have to remember to stay safe and healthy. Follow these health and safety tips this holiday week and all summer long!
Drink water- it is very important to stay hydrated in the hot weather!
Wear Sunscreen- protect your skin from harsh sunburn and reapply every few hours.
Wear bright clothes/flashers when walking at night-Make sure you are visible to cars and stay alert when traveling after dark
Do not swim alone-Bring a swimming buddy or go to a pool/beach that is staffed with a lifeguard to ensure your safety.
Use adult supervision when operating fireworks- Fireworks can be dangerous and should not be managed by young children without the help of a trusted adult.
Check reports for e. coli at beaches- Stay up-to-date on current reports to make sure the water you are swimming in is clean and does not pose a threat to your health.
Wear helmets while riding motorcycles- If you are driving or riding a motorcycle, please take the precaution and wear a proper helmet. The number of motorcyclists on the road drastically increases during the summer, so if you are driving be hyper vigilant and aware of your surroundings to avoid accidents.
