The #Agrestifamily is here for you during this difficult time.
A lot has changed with the introduction of COVID-19 into our communities – and we understand you likely have many reservations and questions regarding its impact on your real estate needs. We want you to know that we are here for you. While we learn to operate under new and ever-changing restrictions, we pride ourselves on continuing to support our clients in whatever way possible.
On Friday, June 26th, Erie County officially began the Green Phase of the Governor’s Reopening Plan. Under this phase, many in-person real estate activities can now take place – such as home tours, open houses, and listing appointments. Safety measures have been implemented by the Governor’s office to ensure the health and well-being of those involved. These include following all social distancing protocol and necessitating the use of face masks for anyone entering a property. The Governor also recommends limiting the amount of individuals visiting a property to as little as possible and utilizing virtual meetings or tours in place of in-person meetings.
Our brokerage leadership team is dedicated to staying abreast of all of the latest COVID-19 updates and policy changes in order to best support our amazing team of real estate agents and their clients. Agents with the REALTOR designation take an oath to uphold only the highest standards of practice and ethics. An important part of that oath is adherence to the National Association of REALTOR’s Decision Making Standard, which has been updated to reflect our current challenges. In every real estate transaction, our agents are asking themselves: “How can I provide first class client service and move the transaction forward while demonstrating care for the well being of others, reducing the risk of exposure to and spread of COVID-19, and complying with local, state, and federal public health policies.”
This means that in each transaction, our agents are:
1. Ensuring full compliance with the law and new regulations, as they are made available – guidance from the State of Pennsylvania, National Association of REALTORs, and Pennyslvania Association of REALTORs can change daily; we are doing our best to continue to comply with any restrictions set forth to ensure the safety of our agents and anyone they work with.
2. Communicating what is known AND what is not known – this can be a frustrating time in many ways; our agents make it a priority to be open and honest with everyone involved in a transaction. Unfortunately not all guidance is clear and those involved in each transaction may interpret guidance differently. It is in these situations that we rely on the guiding principle of communication to ensure that what can go smoothly, does. Your agent will be able to walk you through how your specific transaction is impacted at this time and what safety measures must be taken to ensure the health and well-being of everyone involved.
3. Reviewing legal contracts and updating as needed – our governing bodies have been working diligently to provide updated language and documents to assist agents and their clients in each transaction. There may be additional paperwork to complete and include in each transaction in order to protect all parties involved during this uncertain time.
4. Using Best Practices to meet today’s needs – our brokerage support team has provided our agents with a variety of tools to support their work and their clients virtually. This means virtual meetings, electronic document completion and signing, and utilizing technology when possible to ensure everyone’s safety.
As a brokerage, we continue to stress to our agents the need to perform as many real estate services virtually throughout the Green Phase in order to protect not only the health and safety of our agents and staff, but of our community as well.
